Update
Well, it’s been almost two months now, and I have not posted anything on the website. Here are some fast thoughts, just to let everyone know I am still alive, and in business.
1) I have been extremely busy. DOT is doing less audits. However, the DOT bosses have told their minions to take as long as they like while doing audits, with the hope of finding violations. So, while the total number of audits are less, the length of the audits is more. It is critical you manage your CSA scores and keep the DOT auditor out of your business.
2) Conditional ratings continue to be very damaging. They are also difficult to get upgraded. Oh yes, I can do it, probably as well as anyone, but don’t expect it’s going to be fast, or cheap. The general waiting line once the petition is filed is 3 months. In other words, your petition is going to sit on a DOT officer’s desk for 3 months before he looks at it. Also, it takes a significant amount of my time to put these things together. Time is money. Therefore, if you think you’ll call me, I’ll write a letter, charge you $500, and boom! the rating is upgraded…. no, oh, no.
3) On this Baltimore riot situation: why do people burn down their own neighborhoods? I don’t understand that. That being said, is the government going to give a response to the question, “What happened to Freddie Gray?” Or are they going to let the rioting just go on and on and on. It’s been two and a half weeks since that guy broke his neck, and radio silence from the government. The government moves as fast as it needs to. When necessary, or when its own interests are at stake, the government can move very quickly. Two and a half weeks is plenty of time to determine exactly what happened to Freddie Gray. It’s time to let the public know.
4) In Pennsylvania, the State Legislature has declared 2015 to be the Year of the Cop. Yeah, ok, whatever. I guess no politician has ever lost re-election by hugging law enforcement. Nevertheless, I think it should be the Year of the Truck Driver. I firmly believe the statistics show truck driving is just as dangerous as law enforcement, except truck drivers get paid a helluva lot less, and don’t get 5k road races named after them when they get killed. On the Arnold Safety Consulting, Inc.’s blog, 2015 is hereby declared the Year of the Truck Driver.
5) Did I say I’ve been really busy? I try to return all phone calls, but I can’t claim a 100% success rate on that. Maybe 95%. Also, on comments on the website: I thought I fixed that bug, but I guess I didn’t. Comments used to be emailed to me, but presently are not. 6) The Tip Jar works! For awhile, I was thinking the whole thing did not work, but lo and behold, a few nice people, have actually put money in it. I know there have been folks from Florida, New York, and California, so thank you very much.
